Only thing I’ve seen is the quick crop feature, where if you zoom in on a photo a Crop button appears that allows you to quickly crop the image to your zoomed view.
Edit: I got my OSes confused; that’s an iOS feature that doesn’t seem to have been carried over to macOS!

If you tap and hold the subject to remove the background, "New Sticker" pops us as a direct option. That cutout image is now in your Sticker library in other apps, e.g., Messages.
