Ive only had 3.0 for a couple minutes and I already hate spotlight. If Apple doesn't release an update that allows you to disable it, what are the chances of it showing up in sbsettings with the the next update?

Yea its gotten really annoying, it hasn't been useful once to me and it pops up out of nowhere all the time. But I think just like anything else, a toggle will appear through SBsettings. Hopefully sooner then later...

How can you get annoyed at this? Just don't swipe to much to the left or push the home button too many times.

I LOVE Spotlight and use it constantly. I can see where an on/off toggle would be beneficial, however.

Its annoying for me because I dont want to count how many swipes I need to get back to the home screen. I never use the home button to get to the home screen for some reason, I just always swipe from page to page. And when spotlight comes up it lags while loading the keyboard. I also usually only have 3 pages of apps including jailbreak apps. I delete the ones I find myself not using.
I also dont have any music or videos on my 3g since I have a Touch for that. I never use the calendar because im just not that busy. Im sure someone will say im not using my phone to its full potential, but its my phone.

So for me, spotlight is an inconvenience since it is so easy to invoke. I can appreciate its use though if I had say 11 pages or apps or music or calendar appts.

You need a 3GS. Any hit of lag taht you've ever experienced jailbroken or unjailbroken is completely eliminated. I can swipe into and out of spotlight in less than 1/4 of a second. The keyboard is actually fully loaded before the home screen icons are completely off the screen!

Not gonna happen as I just got my 3g in december, and i would rather not spend $500 on hardware for a software fix lol.

:)

Glad to know that I'm not the only one that dislikes spotlight on 3.0.

An on/off toggle would be great for Spotlight and Copy / Paste. Their usefulness is far out-shadowed by their annoyance.

Anyone? I absoloutely detest the search, it's a waste of TWO good shortcuts.
(Single home press from home & swipe left from home)
Ugh - please, die search.
