Anyway to find a cheap MBP?

My father has two MacBook Pros (Not the brand new ones, the aluminum), and I really like it. I was wondering, is there any way to get it cheap, or will they drop in price anytime soon?

I'm pretty sure it would, and I'm hypothesizing it would be around 1.2k.
I'm only 14, so It'd be a huge purchase for me (I'd have to work and save for a long time), and I'd rather it be the cheapest I get.

honestly about $1300 is the cheapest reliable MBP you'll find, and that's before taxes (if any) and $350 applecare. Craigslist and eBay may have cheaper ones but buyer beware with those.

Well one of them is his, and another is one that the company gave him. He uses both frequently, and I already know I can't have one since I've asked. I would be expecting around 1.2k- 1.3k for a good one, though?

like i said about $1300 before any taxes or apple care if you choose to get that.

Either way you slice it, if you want to spend less than $1000 you are either going to be looking at the last gen Powwerbook G4 or the Rev A (maybe B if you are lucky) MacBook Pros.

Or you'll be looking at MacBook Pros on ebay with dents and quality issues.

Lastly, you are 14, don't worry about getting anything but good grades during your sophomore year of high school.

Truthfully speaking. Save up as much money as you can, then once you graduate from high school, dump it all on the perfect MBP or whatever they call it then.

I did that with my first major camera purchase.

Unless you really want to game, you'll be fine with a MacBook. They are great little machines.

You're 14, you should be studying and having fun outside. Get a cheap computer that will get things done--screw the games. Get into a good college and then get a super good computer; it'll pay for itself.

i'd have to agree with half of these posts, don't spend all of your money on a computer that you don't need.

you have an imac, use it.

Have to say I agree with the previous posters; get a refurb MB, they are superb computers and will easily and comfortably see you through the rest of your school life. Then, in college, treat yourself to the best MBP style computer you can afford.

I would say you could obtain a decent (between 1.83 and 2.16ghz) macbook pro for between 900 and 1100 by using the ebay cashback feature that live.com is offering

Im typing on a brand new MBP Unibody that i got for 1650.. cashback is real

I just picked up a 2.4 penryn mbp for 1050. Was 4 months old, perfect shape. Buy it now was 1350, minus 100 for a Paypal instant rebae and then 200 for live.com cash back.

I love it.

welcome to the club! i am 13 and trying to get a new macbook, and the best advice i have for you is macmall... they are having a sale right now and they have a lt of good free stuff you can get after rebates. you can get the last gen mbp for 1299 there, but beware, those models are known to have defective graphics cards! i would buy the pro if there wasn't the card issue. if you are willing to go for the next best thing, i say get the last gen blackbook. they have better specs than the pro i mentioned and they only cost 1099 now. the one thing to think about is if you want the backlit keyboard...

UCLA has some great deals on the last gen macbook and macbook pro's. If you or a family member is a student, staff, or faculty there you would be eligible for the discount. The top of the line macbook pro is about $1200 and the entry one is $1100. That's as cheap as it's going to get in my opinion.

If you want the new unibody ones you'll have to wait until the next models come out some time in the future.
