iPod Anyway to make a Windows formatted iPod classic work with OS X

I would prefer not to have to reload all the music onto my new MBA. Anyway to do it? Otherwise I'll just use boot camp.

If you're not wanting to move all the files you have onto your Air, then you may indeed be stuck with Boot Camp. If you try to plug it into the Air as is, even if you manually manage songs, iTunes will ask to reformat the iPod to HFS+, and you'll potentially lose your songs.

Do you have another computer that holds your library as it currently exists? Or is the classic your "only copy" of your collection?

Last laptop has some, fully library on externals. Just don't want to fill the air's SSD up, since in windows it lets you upload additional music without your full library. Had this issue a few generations back but had a lot more storage back then.

An old 2nd Gen ipod was the only one I knew of that was sold as either Mac or PC... you can simply reformat it either way. If you need to save your songs and stuff, use an application from the internet to "back it up" or extract the songs a stuff and then reformat and put them back through iTunes.

Just want to be able to load songs onto my iPod without having to load the whole library. Wanted to use it in Lion, but can just use bootcamp. Have everything backed up, but will Adobe CS and other files don't have much space for music on the new air, even with the 256SSD.

Hey there,

any windows iPod will sync fine with a Mac OS X computer after the 3rd gen iPod, just the other way around won't work. As long as you don't want to install firmware updates to the iPod - this you would have to do on Windows or reformat the iPod.
