My six year old accidentally clicked on upgrade (to iOS 10) on my old iPad 2. It was happily running iOS 8 without any issues. Now it runs like crap.

We have two other devices in the house which use iOS 9. I'm guessing there's no way to prevent that screen from showing up every few hours...? Jailbreak?

FYI this didn't work. Am still being asked to update. Is there anything else I'm supposed to do after downloading the profile?

You might already have an update downloaded, which you might need to then delete from your storage by looking in settings (I believe some of the posts in the earlier linked thread discuss that part of it as well).
