I listen to books on my ipod and iphone. well they can have hundreds of tracks. once in awhile on my iphone I will loose my place. it is a real pain to figure out what track you were on. any way to see what you ahve listened too if you can't hook up to itunes?

Under "Lists", there should be a "Last Played" list. At least there is one on my iPhone.

in itunes, go to the view where you can see all the songs from your iPod..

• go to the "View" menubar.
• select "View Options"
• tick "Last Played", it will appear in the list
• sort by "Last Played"

this is a problem when I don't have access to itunes.

OH! wow. why dont you have itunes?? you have a computer dont you!? im sorry i dont know anyway how to access that data without itunes.

when I am at work. if I loose track of what track I am on I am stuck.

Make a Smart playlist (file menu) with criteria "Play Count " "is less than" "#". You have to do this in iTunes. Drag that folder to your iPod. Choose that PLaylist, and run until it empties. Redo the criteria by adding "1" to your original "#" (i.e. if you first chose "2", make it "3". Works great.

thats how I set it up. but it only works when I can sync my iphone. if I loose track while way from the computer it does not help.

make this smart playlist exactly as it is then sync it to your iPod/iPhone.

that would just remove them when I synced right? or will it take them off as I listen?
but looking I would need in the last hour. some of the tracks are only 3 minutes long but I can listen to 150 or more in a day. if the iphone looses track I have to guess where I am at. if I have this at home I just sync the phone and It removes the played tracks. but when I am out and about I can be lost on what was the last track I listened too.

well the one that I just showed you shows the tracks that you just listened to. So you can check that playlist to know where you should be in your audiobook

that's what I found. I did not use playlits when reading the books so never noticed how they were removed from it.
