Anyway to suppress Superdrive noise when waking from sleep?

This is my first macbook pro (2.4 penryn). Everytime from awaking, the Superdrive makes that single "whoops" sound. Anyway to suppress that? Why does it do that when there is no disc in there?

All drives do this. It's checking to see if you have a CD inside. I'm not sure of any way to suppress this, sorry!

why would you want to supress it? unless it wakes the missus up when you crack that badboy open in the middle of the night to enjoy some dirty, dirty computer...things.

Anyway, I think I know what the OP is talking about. When I'm in class and open my MB it's fairly loud and people look at you, so maybe he is wanting to supress the sound so it doesn't distrub anyone around him if he's in a place where he needs to be quiet, ie class, library, work, etc...or it could be because he needs to please himself late at night

Its not THAT loud or disturbing and only lasts a split second. If its loud enough that people turn to look at you then you must be in EXTREME silence.

It's not awful, however it is quite annoying in a class when I pull my computer out of sleep. That's why I usually do it before the lecture starts.
