Ive looked for a while and i cant seem to find a new 2.4 12 core classic mac pro. Im hoping someone could help me out. I know bhphoto used to have them not to long ago but since have been discontinued for a second time. Ive been waiting for apple to put some more up on refurb but that hasnt happened.

One of my bosses friend a man with very deep pockets fell in love with the mac pro classic design and would like to buy a new one. I have repetitively told him that ebay has many dual processor mac pros for almost half the price. But he wants one that is in mint condition and can have apple care added to it.

there's a dealer over here in switzerland who claims to have all kinds of brand new classic Mac Pros on stock. I'm not connected with this dealer in any way! I guess that shipping to the U.S. will be expensive... -> http://www.macmase.ch

That's a bummer, you could have picked up Apple Refurbs until about 6 months ago, and they can get Apple care, and are usually in pristine condition. I have one under my desk (no, your bosses friend can't have it, no matter how deep his pockets are) waiting for a pair of 5690s.

Good luck, they're great machines. Don't give up hope, I've found brand new Mac Minis and MacBook Pros years after they were discontinued. There's one on a shelf somewhere gathering dust as we speak.

It may be a rare find for a brand new 12 core classic nowadays. There was a listing around 2 months ago for a 12 core 2.4ghz with still 2 years of Applecare. It was an open box, but brand new. The ram was upgraded to 24g. The item got sold quickly after 2 days. I am also interested in getting a back up classic Mac Pro. My officemate is also in search for a classic Mac Pro with AppleCare and asked me to look for one.

Here is another listing that got sold quickly. It was a mint 12 core though with about a month left on AppleCare The unit had a nice Radeon 7950 with 32g ram. Probably the best option now is a used classic Mac Pro that still has AppleCare left.

You could build your own with new genuine Apple parts if you wanted, I did a couple in the past for people.

I know a few places that are selling parts cheaper than DVWarehouse and you can get service manuals if you struggle.

They're pretty straight forward and you can save all around.

get a 5,1 with any dual CPU config and upgrade to x5690 (12core, the fastest you can get on these computers).

these 6 core cpu's are popping up on ebay all the time and price keeps dropping since these companies who have servers are running out of their 3 year lease.

if it was me i would just buy a 2010 2.4 8 core and put some x5670's in there. But the man wants a 12 core mint condition with warranty.

With ebay you can never really tell. You might get a 12 core thats been running in a server farm for 4 years straight and is about to poop out.

I wonder if this is a hint that apple will be getting some more refurbs in the u.s.
The Hong kong apple refurb store has pros. Old 2010 ones.

sweet found a factory sealed 2.4 12 core for 2500 locally. I always wonder why a studio would buy computers worth thousands of dollars and just store them and never open them. This place had like 7 of them

Nice! So it's not refurb?

I got a very mint 2010 for $1400 (8core, though, plan to upgrade)...was lucky I guess.

That's a pretty nice deal. I'd be tempted if I wasn't already satisfied by my 6 core.

We just bought a new Quad old style Mac Pro with Apple Care from a company in Virginia. The companies name is Mac Business Solutions it was a pretty fast and seamless process.
