Hey guys,

So I've been trying to play AoE II via gameranger and hamachiX (Virtual Lan Network) with a friend. He's running snow leopard and I'm running tiger. What happens is we get out of sync errors or crashes 5, 10, or 20 minutes into the game. We both have the latest version of the game 1.0.6. I have another friend running the game on tiger and we can play the game for hours on end.

Has anyone here had any luck playing between one system running tiger and the other leopard?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I cannot answer your question, but it would be nice, if you could explain how you set up AoE & Hamachix to connect each other.

A friend and me, we were trying to setup a network connection for days without success.

When connecting through a LAN, everything works fine, but, when we are trying to connect via Internet (without GameRanger), we cannot find each other.

Thanks in advance

The math libraries changed significantly in Leopard, which caused the networking code in the OS to change as well. This is why you can play Tiger-Tiger with no problem, but Tiger-Leopard doesn't work perfectly. As the problem lies in the modifications to the OS, there's not a whole lot that can be done to fix this without updating your OS.
