Problem started a week or so ago. No similar situation with my gmail account, similarly set up. Also, simultaneously, my Imac stopped displaying AOL email alerts in the upper RH corner of the screen the way it used to (still displaying them for gmail). My Imac is a late-2013 model running Catalina. My Iphone SE 2020 is running the latest IOS. I've tried removing and re-installing aol on the Imac, didn't help. I was really shocked to see how many people posted this problem on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250586724 ! Any info and/lor advice much appreciated! Thank you.

By "removing and re-installing aol" I assume you mean AOL in Internet Accounts.

What does the situation look like at the AOL webmail interface in a browser? Are the emails in Junk/Spam there? If they are the problem is at the server and not in macOS. iOS Mail doesn't have junk filtering so it can't be blamed…if that's what you use on the iPhone.

Yes, contents of Junk/Spam and Trash/Trash are identical between mac os mail and mail.aol.com, so I guess the problem resides within aol, not on my Imac. Not Macrumors' wheelhouse, then, but if any AOL user has managed to out-wrestle this, please let me know! Thanks.
