Hi All

I just installed Mountain Lion server app to serve a web page off of my desktop (new iMac), but I have found that the web server is not working for me. I, and others, get a message that says "cannot connect to host." Looking at the logs I see this:

Sep 18 11:13:47 apollo11 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd[52044]): Exited with code: 1
Sep 18 11:13:47 apollo11 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Sep 18 11:13:55 apollo11 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.crashplan.engine): Throttling respawn: Will start in 8 seconds
Sep 18 11:13:57 apollo11 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd[52047]): Exited with code: 1

Am I right in thinking that apache is not running? When I try to start it manually in the terminal I get a message that says it is already loaded. I looked at the simple things like folder permissions and they seem OK. I can ping it, and log-in via ssh.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Solved (the hard way)

After trying many things that did not work, I finally ended-up doing a clean re-install of ML, after that everything worked fine! I did get an alert from the server app that said "the host name has changed." When I set my computer up I had migrated everything over via time machine, so perhaps that was the root of the problem?

In any case thanks to all who suggested fixes!
