Hey all, I bought Aperture (academic) when it came out and filled out the rebate coupon the day it was available. Apple just sent me the online coupon code good for $100. I'm annoyed that it cannot be used at the Apple online EDU store -- that seems counterintuitive to the people that got that version of the software in the first place...oh well.

Anyone else have ideas of how you're going to spend your free $200/100?

Bummer - I was hoping that you could use it at the edu store and it would make sense that at least the edu rebates you could use at the edu store, but I guess that's Apple's call since it's kind of a "gift".

In terms of what to get, if you want to get the best value out of the coupon, you should get stuff that's not heavily discounted in the edu store (or even better, things that aren't discounted at all in the edu store). And of course it depends on what you need.

Personally, I'd like to use it get a Apple display if/when they ever update the line - but the fact that you can't use it at the edu store reduces the value of the e-coupon in that sense. Personally, I'd consider an ipod AV if they release the next generation before the coupon expires.

I bet that you could order something from the online store and exchange it (unopened) at a retail store for store credit. Then you'd have free reign over your EDU purchase, so long as it is on hardware (retail stores don't do academic discounts on software.)

I'm not sure if that is unethical or not...

Anyone in the UK received their Aperture rebate yet?

Wondering if we'll have the same problem of not being able to use it on Edu purchases.

I got mine via e-mail a week ago. Putting it towards a very hefty AppleCare plan for the new PB. Was hopnig to do something more fun with it.

same with me, it is company policy that no software be offered at educational discount in store.

Only online or by phone

I got mine a few days ago...

It's critical for evryone to recognize this coupon expires the end of this coming september.

Hopefully something exciting comes out before then...

Still waiting here too... phoning Apple to check up on it is pointless, I got bounced around department to department, no-one had a clue it even existed

I received an email from Apple this morning with my rebate coupon code, so am very pleased! :)

Hopefully others in the UK will start receiving theirs too.

Now, what to spend it on... hmm. Think I'll wait for any surprises WWDC throws up!
