Aperture question - duplicates

Good day,

I have a little question and hope this can be done easily.
I have imported around 500 photos then reinserted the card and of course, forgot to erase it.

Now what I have done is reimport the card but it still include the old shot that I have already imported. I know I could have unselect them but I didn't want to make a bad move and uncheck some that I shouldn't.

Is there any way to select all pictures from a project and moved them to another folder but where it ask, do you want to replace the duplicates (by the name)?

I do not think that Aperture supports what you want to do... but... in preparation for next time... just permanently change your import settings to never import duplicates. See attachment.

See what Aperture has done with the filenames, if obvious which are the duplicates by name then create a smart album filter containing only the duplicates and delete them from there.

Then, as above, change your Duplicates Import setting....

I opened up Aperture to see how I would solve the problem if it happened to me. I think with only a few hundred photos... this will be easy.

I suspect that your two imports went into two different projects. I would do the following steps:

1. Open the 2nd project (the one with the dups)
2. CMD A (select all)
3. Metadata Red (or some color)... if they all do not turn red... then click the box in the lower right with the "1" inside... and repeat. They all should be tagged red
4. Select both projects from the left panel
5. Select the grid viewing browser option (upper right)
6. Sort items by date (upper left of the browser pain)
7. Visually inspect the pictures. duplicates should be easy to identify
8. Delete any duplicates that have red metadata only (keeping the originals in the proper project)
9. When done, Select all again, and click Metadata "no color label"

It will probably take less time than it took me to type.

Perhaps I don't understand the question or perhaps its because I use a referenced library. You know where the date cutoff is between the dups and the new. Sort in date order and simply delete the previews only.
