Aperture to CC Photo Plan or LR6

Decent article about the option of moving from Aperture to LR 6 or CC. For those that are frequently in areas where the there no internet access, consider the CC photography plan (LR + PS) on the annual plan. That software only checks the subscription validity every 99 days. The monthly plan checks every 30 days. And of course if go for LR 6, no checking once you have it downloaded and installed.

This is good information MCAsan but one thing I think is important to point out because there seems to be misconceptions about day to day use of Adobe CC. They are not web based applications. The full versions of the applications (Lightroom & Photoshop if you opt for the photography plan) are downloaded onto your computer. Use them at home home or on the go. You do not have to have an internet connection to process your photos.

Personally I prefer to pay for things up front. I bought the LR6 upgrade for about £60 I think. Better than £9 per month IMO.

You missed out on the launch sale at B&H. I got the annual subscription for $99.

I will wait for the first of June to turn on the subscription. Might as well get a free extra month via the trial.

For a guy who refers to himself as a serious photographer, he certainly needs help with a rather simple import tool. Worked beautifully for me with a 30,000 image Apertur referenced library the first time. While I may not like the organizational mess LR left me with, every photo was accounted for and all metadata was sucked in perfectly. The first time.

And not a word on C1. The writer is not credible. While the dam has been a distant 3rd compared to Aperture and LR, the initial renders and the develop side are class acts.

C1 looks like my choice. But as long as Aperture runs, I'm happy.

I agree. I am getting more into photography, and actually have aperture on my mac that I bought with a voucher that came with my mac, however I could never get my head round it.

I have decided to purchase lightroom since I suspect it may not be worth trying to learn aperture due to it being discontinued. After trying out a trial, lightroom seems quite easy to work (as I suspect aperture is once you put a bit of time in).

Anyway the thought of paying a monthly fee for software seems very expensive, particularly if you're not too worried about always having the latest veersion. I'm hoping I never get to the stage where I need photoshop since as far as I can see, you can't buy this outright, same with premier. This is a shame, since buying full cc to get premier would be very expensive for non professional use. As far as I can tell, the educational discount which I could get since I am a teacher only provides a discount in the first year.
