Apex Launcher question

I'm using Apex launcher (non pro) and when I have missed phone calls phone icon is not showing number of miss calls. Is this supposed to be normal or getting Pro version will enable this? I'm using this on HTC One.

Just looked at the Pro version and it says..

Apex Launcher Pro unlocks the following features:

• Unread count notifications (provided by the free Apex Notifier extension)

But I thought Apex Notifier just add widgets showing missed calls and text.
Looks like below next to clock.
I want the phone icon to show missed calls not widgets.

I'm pretty sure it is a pro feature. Nova is the same way. You have to buy the pro version, which is well worth it.

apex notifier does both the badges and the dash clock widget. you need the pro version.

Plus, if you get the Pro version and also get the notification add on, it works perfectly with Aqua Mail. Even if you have more than one email set up in Aqua Mail, you get notification badges for each one. I noticed that this did not work with Maildroid.
