From Petapixel: The free Kwiketta app allows a user to launch Intel photoshop under Rosetta on an Apple Silicon machine, so users have access to legacy plugins, etc., that haven't been updated yet. Here's more:

The new program is designed for creatives who are tired of switching back and forth to the Intel version of Adobe Photoshop on Apple Silicon-powered M1 and M2 Apple devices, giving photographers continued access to their most frequently used plugins that have not yet been updated to work on Apple Silicon. Since these updates can take quite some time to arrive, being able to run the applications seamlessly in Rosetta to be able to continue using the add-ons can sometimes be critical to a creative workflow.

Leveraging Rosetta to access “legacy” plugins allow users to continue using their older add-ons while getting the power and speed benefits that the M1 and M2 devices can bring. According to the company, “users can drag files to the Kwiketta icon to open them with Photoshop under Rosetta. Use Open With > Kwiketta for Adobe Photoshop after right-clicking a single file. Set Kwiketta as an external editor in apps like Adobe Lightroom Classic or Kuuvik Capture. Or simply use the Kwiketta icon to launch the Intel version of Photoshop immediately.”

The story is here and the app's site is here. I hope this helps!

you can open under rosetta without an app. just go to get info for the app and check the open in rosetta box.
Thanks! I hadn't tried since I don't have an Mx Mac. It sounded like this was something that allowed users to run older Photoshop plugins on new Macs.

right. but you don’t need a plug in for the adobe apps

Personally I don’t use the Intel version ever, but I could see if you went back and forth a lot it would be nice to have a separate application rather than having to check and uncheck that box every time. Especially since this would let you choose from within Lightroom or a share dialog if you wanted to open it with fast photoshop or if you needed a specific legacy plug-in.

Here is another trick.

If you want to open an image from Lightroom in PS to edit with the old plug ins but you typically use PS Apple Silicon version, then go to the Photoshop icon, get info, tick open with Rosetta then launch PS.

Now when you go to Lightroom, select your image and select to edit it in Lightroom.

Edit your image, close down PS and go back and untick the run in Rosetta box on PS.

It is a less clunky way of switching between both versions of PS to access different plug ins.

I wasn't at my computer last night to post this, but Ken and I are saying the same thing. I dunno, I'm just not a fan of random apps on my computer when I can do something natively, but I don't need to switch in and out of Rosetta except for one barely used plug-in.

Same here, I only need the Intel version for one plug-in and so I do the tick before, untick after shuffle when I need to.

I most definitely do not install apps that I don't understand. My first thought when I read about this app was it is a trojan horse for a keylogger. I am not saying it is, just that a caution flag was raised when reading this thread

This is true, unless you have a plug-in that you do need.
Right....I get that..but you don't need a plug-in to RUN plug-ins...Just go to Get Info and click on the Open in Rosetta option. Native, easy. No extra crud on your computer.

The Kwiketta app isn't a plugin, but I too would just make the change in the get info panel rather than run a 3rd party app to change how Photoshop runs.

It is an app for an apps sake in my mind. You could create this as an automation script really easily if you needed to plus if you want to edit multiple images as layers, then it only seems to work for single files. For editing multiple images as layers in PS, you would still need to go to the Get Info and tell it to run PS in Rosetta anyway.

"Use Open With > Kwiketta for Adobe Photoshop after right-clicking a single file"

I prefer to think about my edits I am planning to do and if I am going to want to use the plag in that is only on Intel version, I will go in and tell it to run in Rosetta, then go to lightroom and my workflow doesnt change.
