It started to happen when I updated my Mac to sequoia pb. Anyone else?
Same thing happens no matter if I use lINA or Omini, or if I play a.mkv or .mp4
yes beach balling!!Guess I’ll try QuickTime now. ThanksDo you mean the "beach balling" or a real crash?
I have the problem with IINA and then tried Elmedia Player were it also happens. Videos stops, Beach ball appears and you can't do anything in the app anymore, but audio is still going on until the end of the video. In rare cases it came back somehow but mostly I have to force quit the player.
This appeared after updating to Developer Beta 4 until 3 there wasn't any problem.
Sometimes this does happen for a while with every video after a few minutes and sometimes it's working normally.
This does not happen with QuickTime Player. I switch to that one until it is fixed if it is happening too often.
I didn't test VLC yet.
Also Movist pro seems working fine by now.Do you mean the "beach balling" or a real crash?

Thanks for sharing !Just install the nightly version of iina, fixed the issue for me.

Yeah the nightly version didn’t work on me as well. Is 15.1 stable? That's the first thing I tried, but it didn't help, but maybe you got a newer nightly, I think those don't update by themselves.
I installed VLC and it happened there too. I think there also was a nightly of a completely new version what I installed first, but that had been really slow and strange, so I immediately deleted it and installed the release version.
Now after updating to macOS 15.1 Developer Beta it seems to be fixed. I did not try IINA much yet, but watched a few longer videos with Elmedia Player, where it happened too before and didn't see any beach ball again.

well I updated to 15.1 and went back to my old Omniplayer and voila the beach ball lmaooo. So far Movist pro seems the most unproblematic.I didn't notice any problems yet. If the beach ball is really gone it seems to be even more stable then 15.0 DB4.
But I don't use this Intelligence stuff. It's disabled anyway because of my location setting.
P.S.: 15.1 didn't even make Safari Technology Preview unusable like the update from DB3 to DB4. Where the build was older than standard Safari, what isn't the case this time.

Hey just fyi I think 15.1 db2 fixed itSame here. Suddenly the beach ball came back in Elmedia Player. Tried IINA and it directly started with a beach ball. Didn't even try VLC again.
Switched back to QuickTime.
Just recognized I have Movist Pro too in the Setapp folder, like the Elmedia Player. I'll set that one as standard for now.
QuickTime ist annoying because it doesn't remember where I stopped watching/listening when the App or just video windows is closed and it doesn't play OGG files, what I sometimes need.
Edit: Seems to work for now with the same video. Thanks for the tip.
Hey I think 15.1 db2 fixed it.I can confirm too I am also having the same issue with VLC, you can be playing a video and it beachballs, video pauses but you can still hear the audio and you have to force quit it. Quick time appears okay.
