What happened to the App Clips feature that Apple was touting at WWDC? I'm actually going to travel next week and I would think a feature like that would be great on the road. However, WWDC is the only time I've heard about the feature and it almost seems like it was dead on arrival. Did Apple Scrap it or is it just hidden really well.

There are app clip enabled apps out there; MacRumours had an article at one point about a game that has a demo as an app clip. But the most interesting uses requiring a lot more time to pop up. iOS 14 was almost just publicly released and your local parking meter isn’t going to install an NFC chip or one of the stickers for App Clips to their parking app just yet

That's understandable, but I guess I look at IOS 14 has being a new thing since June. Yeah it takes time, but they have had a little under 4 months. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything because in using IOS 14, I hadn't seen anything else about it.

Yeah but while you can prepare your code base through the beta It’s one of those features that more about critical market share; Having iOS 14 out there, than it is about the technicals of it. I mean of course you need to write the code for it, but if you start putting App Clip NFC chips and stickers around your shop or whatnot, even with a little explanation “Scan this with your iPhone for an experience” or whatever - if people aren’t on iOS 14 they’ll be confused and frustrated, so you don’t want to push it out there until there’s a high percentage of users already on iOS 14, and a lot of businesses might choose to wait until the concept itself has normalised more, instead of being the ones to deal with the first waves of “What’s this thing” from their customers
