App compatibility getting even worse.

I opened the App Store and I was shocked when I saw the new apps and games, only 40% of them support the 32 bit devices. This is actually not very good as Apple is simply telling the developers to drop of the support of these devices and when they are questioned they simply say that it's a matter of graphics. For a matter of fact, about 65% of iPads are 32 bit with the biggest no. Of users for the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad mini. And for iPhone where over 40% of users have iPhone 4S and 5. Apple devices are unusable without the latest apps. Some apps even give support but with a suboptimal experience, those app developers do it right cause they don't want to lose all the huge no. of users, but they give the ability and in the same time say that the app won't run perfectly but with less features or experience that matches your device's ability.

I'm actually confused as to what the iPad Pro has to do with any of what you are talking about?

It has nothing to do with the iPad Pro. In the last two years there has been lots of stuff that doesn't work for the A5 devices, mostly games, but now developers are allowed to exclude them from apps in general.

That doesn't seem fair to us with these devices, but then you're not the one wasting time trying to work around the limitations when you could be working on other things.

When you migrate from one platform to another at some point you have to start cutting off support for the older devices. Development doesn't stand still because some small subset of users are unable or unwilling to update. Development leads to selling product which generates capital which enables further development and that leads to...

Were you around for the Motorola 68K to PowerPC or PowerPC to Intel transitions in Macs? The same kinds of things happened then and yet Apple is still around so they must've worked out OK.

The powerful an iPad gets the more apps specially optimized for it which in 90% of cases makes more optimised apps for the latest and less optimised apps for the older devices. 55% of new apps drop support off the older devices.
