Hi. I'm the developer of EasyJoin.

EasyJoin allows you to connect Mac, Windows, Android and Linux devices to:
  • Send files and folders to multiple devices on your local network (offline) and directly via Internet.
  • Read and send SMS / MMS messages from your computer.
  • Manage phone calls remotely.
  • Browse your phone's contacts and start a phone call from your computer.
  • Trigger an action of a notification displayed in the phone.
  • Reply to a message from WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger, Viber and other communication apps from your PC.
  • Remote file management. Download, rename, delete the files of a remote device.
  • Use your phone as a mouse to control your PC (currently available only in the Windows app).
  • Automatically synchronizes the clipboards of all devices when you copy text to one of them.
  • Send P2P messages and links to one or more devices even when they are offline. Send links and text from your browser.
  • Available in light and dark theme.
For the moment it's possible to download it directly from the site and I'm considering making it available on the App store as well.

I would appreciate your feedback to improve the app. Thank you.

Update: version 4.1

  • New setting to close the app in the menu bar. Available on macOS 13 and newer.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented P2P and SMS messages from being filtered in trusted device view.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented from checking if there is a new version.

Sounds very interesting. Please indicate if the download package includes a document that describes security controls for using the app(s) on isolated LAN and via Internet. Prospective users will need some reassurance that can be tested - in a sandbox or with Little Snitch/Wire Shark - to independently confirm privacy and ensure that content is not being exfiltrated to any third party.

In no particular order... (I'm sure there's more, especially if you release for iOS)
  • In what nation/state is your primary development and business office domiciled?
  • Is the app proxy aware?
  • How is device trust established?
    • Device fingerprinting?
    • Key/secret pair?
  • Can a privately owned root certificate be used?
  • Does the app enforce TLS 3?
  • Does the app allow/support post quantum cryptography?
  • Does the app enable auto-destruct of data after receipt and of specified age?
  • Are the app's local data-bases encrypted at rest - separately from the device file system encryption - using the privately owned key?
  • Would the app operate on an iOS device in lockdown mode?
  • Does the app enable it's own access password to run compatible with touchID and/or FaceID?
  • Does the app have "Burn-Down" feature that destroys all local content, signals other participating clients to destroy local content and then delete the app?
Please also provide a table to clarifies which features operate on iOS(?), Android, Mac OS, Windows, Linux and across platforms.

Hi from Athens, Greece.

This app is available for Mac, Windows, Android and Linux. Apart from the Android Pro version, all other versions are currently downloadable from easyjoin.net. I am planning to release the Mac version on the App store as well, which is why it was developed to be used in sandbox. I am also planning to release a file transfer and clipboard-only version for iOS on the App store as well.

The app connects the various devices in a decentralized way, within the same network (wireless and wired) and via Internet as well. The connection between the devices is direct-there are no external servers-both when they are in the same network and when they connect via the Internet.

Not having external servers and allowing the connection to be direct and stay within a network is what drove me to create the app. Even when the connection of two devices is done via the Internet, no external servers are used for data transfer.

All personal data exchanged--such as files, clipboards, text, contacts, SMS, notifications--are end-to-end encrypted. The encryption is AES type, offered by the system where the app runs, and I doubt that at the moment these implementations are quantum attack proof. Since data encryption is e2e I think some of the questions regarding security are not applicable here. The local socket port used by the app to listen for socket connections is 51167.

The app is not meant to be used in environments where it is forbidden to communicate using e2e encrypted data. Even though the data is encrypted, some metadata is not, so if you plan to use it in a network where your data traffic is monitored and you could get into serious trouble if someone finds out that you are sending e2e encrypted data I would advise against using this app (or any other app).
