App for Playing Audio?

What's the best app for playing downloaded audio? I like to download and listen to a radio show while at work. I've been using VLC, however during the course of my day I need to pause the audio periodically. Sometimes VLC will not pick up where I left off and I have to find my place again. It's weird. Sometimes I'll pause it for 2 min and it starts over and sometimes I'll have it paused for an hour or more and it'll pick up where I left off. Is there an app that won't start over when I pause the audio? I'm using a Pixel 2 XL

Just about any audio player will keep it's position after pausing and exiting the app. I use Poweramp. Smart Audiobook Player should do the job too if your files are mp3s.

Google Play Music should already be on your Pixel 2, that works as well.
