Anyone know of a decent app that can track what I do for projects/tasks etc? I need to create a task, update it and possibly have reminders.

Any help appreciated

I am also looking for a good app for the same purposes. While I have not tried any of these yet, I've heard good things about: Things, Todo, and OmniFocus.

Things and OmniFocus both have dedicated desktop applications that they can sync with while Todo uses iCal (though I am not entirely sure about this).

FYI

I saw Onmifocus and looks good but I dont really need a desktop client and many of the users say it is too complex for iphone alone. Will look at todo.

cheers

I'd suggest either Things or waiting for The Hit List to have it's iPhone application released. My opinion is that The Hit List is a great desktop application and provides a lot of what most people need without being complicated. I assume the iPhone application will try to do the same thing. No idea when it'll be available sadly. But check out the desktop app and see what you think. If you can't wait, check out Things. It's got a lot of functionality but sadly is a bit cumbersome to use in my opinion.

Todo is great! Unless you need subtasks within subtasks (go with Omnifocus then), or need a desktop client for it to sync to( go with Omnifocus or Things) then Todo has a lot of great features. It supports subtasks, lists, sync to a free online service, recurring tasks, user created lists, list filters, contexts, colored 'bullets' to let you know which project or list the task belongs to, a few different sets of icons for priority marking, and list filters for smartview. I forgot to mention the choice of strikeouts for completed tasks is nice, and it's all done within a very effiecient and nice-looking UI.

How has it been working so far? A review after a week or so of use would be helpful, even if brief.***************

Hi

I use the App daily to manage my tasks at work. I go on conference calls and when asked i simply open the task in question and recall the data and offer them an update. Of course you have to keep it up to date but I was using pen and paper them couldnt find what I wrote.

Its as simple or as complex as you want to make it. You can create a checklist for a task and check each item as you complete it which is great in my line of work.

I would highly recommend To Do - it is cheap and even if you dont like it - it wont break the bank.

I just bought Todo too. It's nice. I hear Push Notifications are incoming, as well.

Yeah, push notifications are coming, I just submited a request for a beta of the next version wich will support push. I am very curious if I will get selected.
No doubt, IMO Todo is one of the best and it helps a lot. The only downside of it is that it syncs only with Remember The Milk (wich requires an anual subscription in order to support sync and also has it's dedicated app) and Todledo wich has THE MOST AWFUL UI I ever saw.. it does it's job, but the interface makes me sick :p

I just saw the post on their Google Groups page. I'm really excited for push to come. I'm too stupid to remember to check it every day and it will be hugely helpful. I'm downloading 2.0 today (they say the update with push will be free to existing users).

Also Syncs with iCal.

I still rate Remember The Milk above the rest. I've bought and spent time trying out Things, OmniFocus, Toodledo / Pocket Informant, IMExchange with Outlook syncing, The Hit List, Simple Task, and have Never found anything to make me want to stop using RTM. Btw, the only reason I tried them in the first place, rather than just sticking with RTM and ignoring the rest is because I'm seemingly addicted to trying task mgmt apps. Not sure quite why :)

RTM syncing has always been seamless and reliable. It's hugely customisable, you can get what you want out of it. Yes, it doesn't sync bidirectionaly with Outlook or iCal, but running it as a standalone app in Fluid on my MacBook works really well for me.

I've found it's perfect for my needs. I use it for personal/family tasks/todos, project and task management for work, and more recently I've found it's a great way to set out training plans and logs for my running & cycling.

The longer I've used it, the more I've discovered I can do with it, and the more productive I've become.

I know some are turned off by the $25/yr pro subscription, but it's been well worth the price for me.

Recommend it to anyone who's not yet tried it.

I've been using RTM also on the web based interface and also during the trial version on my iPhone. It is indeed a great thing just because it's extremely simple to use. Despite this, I found it to be very simple and I needed some advanced utilities.. like subtasks, checklists etc etc
Actually, I like the interface of RTM the most, it's friendlier than Todo for example.
But...I still don't see the point of paying $25/yr for it... and finding it so useful I think it's more a placebo effect for paying for it, rather than using something free. This happens for me for many things
Now, that Google Calendar also has Tasks, it would be great to have syncing or finding some way of embeding them in some app..
