Their remote app isn't using BT to contact the devices. It's similar to how TiVo remotes work. They could easily update the PS3 firmware to do it this way instead of BT.Sony will also offer an additional Wi-Fi Blu-ray remote control application

In order for an iPhone to communicate with a BD device usng the SDK, the device needs to go through the "made for iPod" program. Unless Sony MFI Certifies the PS3 you're not getting a non-jailbroken remote.
