Is there an app for IPad that will let me take notes? Not using a keyboard but a stylus.

You can write in sundry notes. There is a drawing mode and you could use finger or stylus. There is also penultimate.
 
Soundpaper.
I used it today in both of my lectures and it is wonderful. It records the lecture while you type! I'm currently reading / listening over to my notes:) its cheap and helpful!

How's the battery life do with taking notes while recording entire classes?

I have the percentage turned off because it bothers me but I barely saw the battery drain. By the end of both classes (about 2.5 hours of recording and note taking) the battery bar was missing one row of pixels. So it effects the battery but not extensively.
 
I don't own this app but I understand that if you touch a word from your typed notes that the audio takes you right to that place in the recording. Is that correct? If so, that would be very beneficial.
 
The touch to start the recording, works great! And as far as the quality - it's decent. I can clearly hear the professor, but I can also hear my finger pecking the glass as well as a couple kids who were sitting next to me talking every few minutes. So the mic pics up everything. But I wasn't sitting front center each time. I was off to the side a bit in both classes. But I can defeintly use it to effectively study.
The only thing I wish it had was the ability to draw charts or someway to take notes in a math class. But for a normal lecture it works great.
 
I emailed the author, he said that sketch drawings are coming soon.

But there won't be color section.

He also said that search should be available soon (or maybe it's already there) but that there won't be a way to group notes by folder/topic.

That kinda sucks:/ I wish I could make different folders for each chapter in one class so studying for a test i'd just have to study one or two folders rather than looking for anthropology 3.2 3.3 4.1 and 4.2
His app is great, it just needs a few tweaks to be the best without question.

But I am glad to get sketching. It'd be nice to see a graph paper area I could drop in, so I could draw a tangent line here and there.
But glad improvements are coming:)
