I was looking through the top 100 iPad list and one appeared intriguing with the title "Desktop". It appears to be a workaround for not having full multitasking by letting you have a number of the app's own utilities open at a time, as if they were windows on a regular desktop. For $.99, I might go ahead and buy it, it looks pretty solid.

but how does it work

will you have to run this app 100% of the time you're using your iPad in order to have this functionality, or does it itself run in the background but allow multiple windows to be open. the description doesn't give enough information, what a question after i've already put up my .99 cents.

For only 99 cents (until April 3rd that is) I thought it was worth a shot. Thanks for posting :)

Here's a little more info and some bigger pics:

"Think of it as App Box Pro with instant access to multiple utilities at the same time. The in app utilities include the following: Web Browser, Dictionary, Unit Converter, Language Translator, Calculator, Currency, Maps, Email Composer, Weather and Device Stats."

Yeah, you're right and for 99 cents I think it's a bargain. Beats paying $4.99 after the 3rd

No app can run the in the background, so every utility in the app was created by the app's developer. Each utility each runs in this app as if they were windows on a Mac desktop.

When I saw this app last night and that it was on sale, I thought, "this looks like an app that slipped through that Apple's going to pull soon" so I quickly downloaded it. Sure enough, I was going to show it to a friend this morning and I couldn't find it. Looks like it's been pulled already. Hold onto it if you got it!

Not to be a wet blanket but... I don't see the real draw. It's not true multi-tasking, you can't run any application, only applications that are built into this. And maybe it's just me, but that doesn't really appeal to me.

Not entirely sure why apple would have pulled it even, anyway, if you like it be glad you already got it I guess, but don't expect this to actually run in the background, or run that awesome utility app you got while browsing through safari.

Damn. I was going to download every app directly to my iPad so I didn't buy any yet. This seemed pretty useful, too. The future updates sounded like they were really going to give you beyond the basic uses of what multitasking would be. Apple really doesn't have too much justified reason for pulling this, it's within its limits.

noooooooooooooooooooooooo

damn you apple!!

its already gone...

AND...while looking for it, i found another app that looked like an awesome one...also called desktop something or other...it allows you to have several open browser windows on the ipad at once, resizable and movable and stuff. While I was reading the info on it, it was removed from the store. I clicked BUY and i got a message saying that the app was removed while I was browsing..!

sucks~!
