Just of late, whenever I am wearing my APP and I "Hey Siri" if I am within earshot of the two HomePods I have, they intercept the request and take over. This was never an issue until the last few weeks. I have gone through all the settings on all devices and can't change the behaviour. It used to work flawlessly, but I am wondering if iOS14 and the fact that the HomePods are still on tvOS13 is the reason behind this...

Anyone else?

I just updated my phone to iOS 14.0.1 on Saturday and now “hey Siri” does nothing when I’ve got my AirPods in my ears....I can hear music, people can hear me when on a phone call....I just can’t use Siri to start music, change song or make a phone call with my AirPods.
The moment I take the AirPods out my ears then my phone (iPhone 8) will correctly work with hey Siri instantly.
I’ve gone through every setting I can find that has anything to do with Siri but nothing gets it to work.
I went onto online chat with Apple and done a bunch of things they wanted me to try but nothing changed and so they are sending me replacements....I really don’t think a new pair will solve this for me.
I really think there will be a really stupid setting somewhere that is disabling Siri when AirPods are connected.

That's what I thought, and having reset everything that I could, I finally got mine to work as intended. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope the replacements offer you a fix...
