App Icons Not Showing

Hey, guys,

I recently installed (and quickly uninstalled) Duet Display, but it messed up several things on my MacBook. First of all, various app icons aren't showing, whether they're in the dock, grid, or Finder (screenshot attached).

I've Googled similar issues, but they were specific for the dock and involved repairing the disk, which I doubt is necessary.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any help would be appreciated.

I've tried running

find /var/folders -name com.apple.dock.iconcache -exec rm {} \; 2>/dev/null; killall Dock

and

mv ~/L*/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db ~/Desktop; killall Dock; exit

to no avail.

Have you restarted your computer since uninstalling?

Yeah, a few times.

Yeah, I checked. They display in the Finder list view, but not larger versions.

I had it happen and ran this one, they all came back:




rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db; killall Dock

I had exactly same issue, I thought my Mac memory is corrupted or something. Opening Applications folder in the Finder did refresh the icons (and made it shown). Just must wait for an OSX update

I don't understand. You fixed the issue by opening the Applications folder in Finder? Didn't for me.

Yes. When I clicked the Applications folder in the Finder (I switched between list and icon view) and apps were shown in the Finder window, they were also 'refreshed' in the Dock view and the problem has gone for that day.
At my comp I've never installed Duet Display, so its rather Yosemite issue.
You can also try reload the Finder (cmd+opt+esc, select Finder then Reload) after displaying the Applications folder - don't know what else can help
