I was driving from Wisconsin to Virginia this past weekend and had this idea...

I had the unfortunate task of driving the U-Haul that was probably older than I am while my girlfriend drove my car. I had to be pretty concentrated on the road so finding a radio station from county to county just became too much of a hassle and I ended up sitting in silence for much of the 14 hours.

Idea : An app that you put your route into, select your genre of choice and it gives you a list of radio stations along that route so you don't have to suffer through searching and missing potentially good stations because they're on commercial when you browse past (as I'm sure happened to me many times).

As said in the subject, this is free for the taking. I think it would be a popular app.

why not use an app that will stream music using edge/3G/wifi?

My iPod FM transmitter was in my car and there was no possible way I'd hear my iPhone speaker over the road noise.

Plus streaming music on Edge is spotty enough without the dead spots you hit along the way.

Finally, I wasn't looking for solutions. The trip is over. It's an app idea.

I'll be honest, this is an interesting idea. You could utilize some sort of Google mashup too.

Just wish I was a developer to do it...haha...but great idea, this would be something I'd at least try out.

Agreed. Often times I fidget with the radio in new places trying to find suitable listening music. So yeah, this app would be kinda nice.

Love this idea!

This is a great idea for an App. I can't think of the number of times I've wanted to listen to the radio, but didn't want to "surf the stations" until I found something I like.

Listening to one's own music is good for awhile. XM or Sirius is a also good at times. However, sometimes good old radio is nice. I think this App. would be a great way to make it easier.

Thanks to all for the constructive comments.

I have a feeling this will go nowhere on this forum. Anybody know where I can make the suggestion to actual developers?
