I recently installed High Sierra which includes version 8 of Microsoft's Remote Desktop. It does not support multiple monitors when I connect to my PC Workstation running Windows 7 Enterprise, which does allow multiple monitors when I connect from a PC to the workstation.

Looking around the internet I found a 2 year old post from Microsoft
https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/en...-for-mac-supports-multiple-monitors-and-more/
which talks about Remote Desktop 10. I went to the Mac App Store and clicked on the install button. I saw it in the Apps folder next to my existing Remote Desktop 8 icon, downloading. But when I looked later it wasn't there. But in the App Store the install button now says open. When I click it it seems ready to run the Remote Desktop app from the store. Is this correct? Is it on my Mac, but unseen? Can you run apps that stay in the app store, and not on your mac? And what is with seeing it downloading in my Apps folder and then disappearing?

Thanks for any guidance, I am confused.
