Hola- I'm trying to get an idea of the app launch times that people are experiencing with the new ssd harddrives. I am doing this since I'm not sure if mine are launching up to snuff since my time machine restore. I don't have my air with me now, but will post results when I get back to it. Make sure to have no other apps open at the time, and also if your opening iphoto or itunes it might be beneficial to post the size of the libraries that it's accessing. I know my iphoto opens kind of slow compared to the other apps-about 4 seconds, but this is likely due to my 6200 photos (no raw). Also, the iphoto app lags when I hit the red close bubble, anyone else experience this or is it instantaneous like the other apps? Also, apps tend to launch faster after first attempt since startup. This is if you open the app for the first time, quit the app, and open it again, I found the second time and those after are significantly fast.

Here are some of my times:

Word: 1.5 seconds
PowerPoint: 1.4 seconds
Excel: 1.7 seconds
Photoshop: 3.5 seconds
Illustrator: 3.7 seconds
Dreamweaver: 4.2 seconds
iPhoto: 3 seconds
iTunes: 1.7 seconds

iPhoto was originally like a second or 2 when I first bought the computer, but I have over 4,000 photos loaded into it. Same idea for iTunes, it only takes so long because I have about 70HD movies, 30SD movies, and 1200 songs. About 150GB of data it's looking up at startup.

At the end of the day it's friggen' fast! :-D I love it!

This is the 13" Ultimate btw - 2.13GHz and 4GB Ram. :D

Hey Joe,
thanks for the numbers seems like mine is on par with yours. Does your iphoto lag when you press the red close button? mine doesn't close right away, debating whether to attempt to re-install.

Yea... it does. Just for a second or two though. I think it's because it checks the library for any changes and then saves those changes if any were made. Thats just my guess. I think your alright though.
