Early this (last!) year I saw an app out there that would:

Look at a finder folder. (say the folder has 100 jpgs)
Create a new folder A
Move 25 items to new folder A
Create a new folder B
Move 25 items to new folder B
Create a new folder C
Move 25 items to new folder C
Create a new folder D
Move 25 items to new folder D

done.

The cool thing was that you could determine what the file limit number was and the new name of the folder I think too.

But I do not remember the name of it! Does anyone remember or know of this app?

thank you.

can’t help with the particular app, but this is quite easy to solve via a shell (terminal) script; or Applescript/Automator… maybe even ShortCuts. the user provides the number of new folders or the number of files per new folder?

thx, I may just do that. Then save it as a shortcut.

I will generating thousands of files during testing so I need to do something!

what's funny was I looked at that app at the time and said, meh. why would I ever want to do that?

You live. You learn. as the saying goes.

EDIT: here is a simple solution in AppleScript. Or via a shell script - which you can easily wrap into e.g. a droplet using
Platypus.
