Hi! I couldn't find an answer with Google - perhaps I don't know the right words...

I have a Zoom Tac-2 audio interface, and ever since I plugged it in and installed it (2-3 years ago), it has opened an app called Tac-2 MixEfx on every startup. I can close it and everything works just fine, so it's not a necessary thing, as far as I can see.

Yet I haven't found a way to stop it from opening. Every website is happy to tell you that you just go to System Preferences, choose your account and click Login items - and voila, there's your app. But what if it's not there? Because this one isn't.

Is there another way to open apps on startup? Is that preventable? Or could this be somehow hardwired to the Zoom device itself?

I couldn't even find a support email address on Zoom's website. That must make me an idiot, but if anybody has any other theories, I'd be happy to hear. Thanks!

Hi,

It's possible that the app is being launched by a LaunchAgent?

Have a look in the following locations:

/System/Library/LaunchAgents/
/Library/LaunchAgents/
~/Library/LaunchAgents/ (I think this is the most likely location)

..using "Finder>Go>Go to Folder..." and see if there's anything there that looks like it belongs to the app in question.

Hope that's of some help!

Yes! Found it in the /Library/LaunchAgents -folder! Funnily enough (?), the file name had the words "launch daemon" in it, but it wasn't in the LaunchDaemons -folder right next to this one. Wonder why. :)

I moved the file to my backup disk, and now it's not launched on startup anymore.

Big thanks!
