iPad App recommendations

RE posting here because I think I'll get a better response....

So i decided to get an ipad 4th Gen , Looking for some help with apps please

1) Anything to set the screen to BLACK so i can test for backlight bleed?

2) Is there a decent app that will let me write over the top of photos with the pencil? Google photos does this on Android, but the iPad OS version doesn't. Also, iPad OS Markup doesn't work with Google Photos (Not really surprised)

3) Any MUST-HAVE apps that you'd recommend? It's going to take me a while to get used to apple's way of doing things (Especially as i don't intend on switching phone to apple too)

You can write on photos with the pencil in the stock Photos app. I don’t use Google photos so I don’t know anything about that.

In the Google Photos app one can long press a photo in the thumbnail view to invoke selection of multiple photos, they can then select multiple photos and click the share button in the app to "Save to Device" which will download and add the photos to the Camera Roll on the device.

Did you mean Air 4 or iPad Gen 4? Just wondering because I believe a Gen 4 regular iPad does not support Apple Pencil.

I've also recently switched to apple from android. Could someone tell me if there is a way to install apps that aren't on the official app store? I realized that some of the apps I really need and use on Android aren't available on Apple

You can't install Android apps on an iPad.

True but I think the point of the question wasn't that per se, it was whether or not it is possible to sideload applications like what can be done with Android.

You are probably right.

As far as I am aware, that can't be done unless one can jailbreak the iPad. I don't really keep up with the JB aspect, though.

I think the point is still valid, what would be side loaded? It would have to be an iPadOS app.

If you don’t stare at black screens with 100% brightness, no real need to test. I’ve owned nearly every model of iPad and never encountered with regular usage.

Thanks for the reply guys, another question: if to download as you say "sideload apps", would it work ok on the device? Or will it cause some trouble like I don't know glitches.
Also, did anyone use any alternatives from this website, found it while doing some research, they give a pretty long list of alternatives, can anyone give a feedback of at least some of them?

In hindsight I think Zazoh is right, that you are asking if Android apps specifically can run in ios, please confirm if that is your question. Answer is no, you’ll have to find alternative applications similar to the Android apps you’re used to on Android that are programmed for iOS. It would be best to ask about specific apps (perhaps in another thread). I came from an Android tablet about 2.5 years ago to iOS so I can relate to the task of finding alternatives, as I’m sure many others on this forum can.

Got it! I guess I just have to keep searching for similar apps to completely go to iOS. It's kinda difficult to switch completely. but I guess it takes some time. While doing the research, I also found a great source for iOS alternatives, which I found useful while adjusting: https://orangesoft.co/blog/alternative-app-stores

Your original post asked about "must have" apps, but we'd need to know what you use the iPad for to answer that - there is no app that will be a "must have" for everyone.

My personal "must have" is GoodNotes, but that's because my primary use for the iPad is document reviewing and as an electronic whiteboard when teaching. If those aren't things you do then it's probably irrelevant to you. And probably many other people's must-haves would be of no interest to me (though I'm always open to new calendar recommendations - whether on Android or iOS I've never found a calendar app that does everything I want ).
