I don't know for sure that this belongs in the iPad forum, but the behavior I'll describe seems not to be happening on my iPhone, just my iPad.

Over the past 24 hours or so, I've found that whenever I open the App Store application, it now immediately asks for my password. Until now, I've been asked for my password when I want to download or buy something, but not when I just open the store to browse. Oddly, if I dismiss the dialog that is requesting the password, I can continue to browse the store.

I have tried logging out of my account and then logging back in. And I am not seeing this on my iPhone.

A puzzle. If anyone knows how to make this stop, I'm all ears.

I have noticed the issue as well. Mine seemed to be related to a failed download for a bartender app. After i removed the app, the app store hasn't asked for a password.

Kind of a minor annoyance, in line with every single transaction failing because Apple's legal agreements are revised every two hours. (You must read and acknowledge the new "agreement" then start the process over from the beginning.)

That was it! Thanks. I had an app that was updated for OS4, but wouldn't load anymore on 3.2 as a result. When I deleted it, the request for my password also stopped.

I spoke too soon - the password demand has returned. Ugh.

No you didn't - something had its download interrupted - keep looking for it.
Well, the app I deleted did have its download interrupted. It began to load, but then aborted because as an iOS4-only application, it couldn't load on the iPad. I guess deleting that app didn't clear the interruption? I did try a hard reset after deleting, but no luck. Not sure how to look any further. Do you have a suggestion? I absolutely can believe that this is the cause - just don't know what to do next. TIA.

Is it still in iTunes when you sync? If so, kill it there and re-sync.

Thanks! At least so far, that seems to work. The app was not showing as being in need of updating in iTunes, but when I updated some others in iTunes, it did come along too. I made sure it was not checked to be sent to the iPad and then synced the iPad. So far, no more password demands. Thanks!
