Over the past few weeks, the Mac App store asks me almost hourly to enter my password. It happens on high sierra too, but after erasing my HD and downgrading to Sierra (for app compatibility) it still happens.

System preferences is automatic updates...

Any ideas?

Booted in safe mode and it doesn't ask for password. Added a new user account and it does!

In El Capt. Sys. Prefs./App Store there were some pref. options you could set that could possibly slow down the number of times you need to enter your password.
Sierra may have these options too ?
It may help.
