An update for an app on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S (both running 9.3.5) continues to show, even though it is incompatible with both devices. Is this normal? I don't think I've encountered it before, and I'm pretty sure I have some apps that have ceased supporting those devices.

I thought that by deleting the app and reinstalling it that would perhaps make the update notification go away, but no luck. In fact, the App Store refused to reinstall it claiming incompatibility, even though the previous version supported both devices (as I understand it, the App Store should install the last compatible version of an app on older devices). I ended up installing the previous version from a Time Machine backup through iTunes.

At any rate, I just want the notification to go away so that I can know when actual compatible updates are available.

Can't suggest much other than just disabling notifications for the App Store (settings > notifications > app store > turn 'allow notifications' off). I don't think it should be normal but has never happened to me so I can't say for sure.
