App store update count not resetting to zero

Hi,
Since I installed 10.8.3 the count of available updates badge on the app store dock icon does not go away after any updates are applied. It just keeps counting up. Never seen this before. Any suggestions?

Found somewhere in the forum:

Go to:
Startup Disk > username > Library > Preferences

Then, you need to find these files:

com.apple.storeagent.plist
com.apple.storeagent.plist.lockfile
com.apple.appstore.plist

Delete those files and logoff/login.

I re-booted the machine last night and the problem went away. If it happens again, I'll give your solution a go and let you know how it turns out.
