Hey,

Im using backgrounder with proswitcher on a 3gs (3.1.2)

just wondered what everyone else uses for backgrounding and what they use to switch between them incase im missing a better app to
do this.

I used Backgrounder with Kirikae, until I got boned and had to get a replacement 3GS with the new iBoot and 3.1.3 :(

I loved Kirikae, it's amazing. Pretty much the only reason I'm waiting for a 3.1.3 jailbreak

I played around with ProSwitcher for a while and then went back to Kirikae. I find it simpler and less of a battery hog. Kirikae gives me a simple task list with the option easily to close open tasks.

You mean you got a "white box" replacement that had the new boot rom AND 3.1.3?

quickdo. i found proswitcher to be a massive battery hog

Maybe that's why my battery is gettin down so fast now since I am using proswitcher. So even when your not running anything in the backgrounder it still uses the battery up more you think?

been on proswitcher for 2 months and now i dont know how i managed without Kirikae.

its perfect!

havent noticed any battery performance changes, but its been plugged in all day. normally have last.fm in the background along with facebook and im+ if i have a convo going along.

Big thanks to ngenerator and everyone else who endorced it, and best of luck JB'ing 3.1.3

yes! Crazy amounts of power just dissapearing with nothing running

You guys complaining that ProSwitcher is using extra juice are either using ProSwitcher constantly and then leaving it invoked, maybe, or have something else wrong with your phone.

Fact of the matter is, it won't use any more CPU than without, until it's invoked, and then it's practically negligible. I noticed very little difference in battery life after installing PS.

I prefer proswitcher. The developer is very responsive and I've had no battery or performance issues. I'd love to test out kirikae more intensivley but no matter how many times I reinstall it I keep having the same bug. When using the x button to close out a backgrounded app, kirikae closes right after pressing the x.

You don't need to tell me anything about my phone, or, in your expert opinion, that its broken. I know how pro switcher affects the power, i haven't asked for advice and i don't care what you think.

The FACT of the matter is with pro-switcher installed it almost halves MY battery life. The FACT of the matter is that i'm not the only person effected.

But of course you must know better, a newbie who hasn't encountered any pro-switcher problems.., yes you must definitely have valid information on the subject!

That may very well be the case, but I can tell you that you're in the minority if you're experiencing halved battery life with ProSwitcher.

A newbie on this board, yes, but not a newbie when it comes to things IT. I've been working in IT for 15+ years.

ok. i still fail to see a reason to listen to your 'expertise' in iphones or more specifically the performance and use of proswitcher.

I more polite terms than these you stated that people experiencing large battery drain were either incompetent, not realising they were staring at x number of apps running, or that they had a problem with their phones.

You refused to account for the possibility of a whole host of other reason including application conflicts, faulty installations, frozen caches, previous versions (i havent been using it in a few months) or bad luck.

Your conclusion was that younoticed very little battery use change, and so what...? the application must be faultless on 100% of devices?

Oh, and you are of course 100% sure your battery life hardly changed on install, and this app definatly has no chance of degrading battery life over time by tying up resources mistakenly.

ok. i still fail to see a reason to listen to your 'expertise' in iphones or more specifically the performance and use of proswitcher.
That's fine; you don't have to. I've been using it since version beta 0.7. So I've witnessed the permutations over the last several versions, including versions that suffered from memory leaks and more battery drain than others.

I more polite terms than these you stated that people experiencing large battery drain were either incompetent, not realising they were staring at x number of apps running, or that they had a problem with their phones.
Exactly. I did state it more politely, not at all implying that you were incompetent. More importantly, the number of apps currently backgrounded is not directly related to the battery drain of ProSwitcher. In fact, the number of apps backgrounded is quite closely related to the battery drain indirectly caused by Backgrounder; put another way, having the ability to background apps in the first place can lead to increased battery drain.

You refused to account for the possibility of a whole host of other reason including application conflicts, faulty installations, frozen caches, previous versions (i havent been using it in a few months) or bad luck.
No I didn't. I've simply seen ProSwitcher work through these bugs. If installed correctly, it shouldn't cause any significant battery drain by itself.

Your conclusion was that younoticed very little battery use change, and so what...? the application must be faultless on 100% of devices?
Again, "no," however, you are in the minority.

Oh, and you are of course 100% sure your battery life hardly changed on install, and this app definatly has no chance of degrading battery life over time by tying up resources mistakenly.
Again, "no," however, it "definately" has very little chance of degrading battery life by itself, unless you leave it invoked at all times or are constantly invoking it. It no longer has any significant memory leaks, and I don't think any version had any problems with orphaned processes...

So I've witnessed the permutations over the last several versions, including versions that suffered from memory leaks and more battery drain than others.

really? that sounds like something i mentioned as a problem after i thought you said ..

You guys complaining that ProSwitcher is using extra juice are Either using ProSwitcher constantly and then leaving it invoked, maybe, or have something else wrong with your phone.

These sound like definite terms, either or, which was my initial problem.
Instead of suggesting actual solutions to the problem, you decided on these 2 possible reasons.

If installed correctly, it shouldn't cause any significant battery drain by itself.

So if there was a problem in installation...? much like i pointed out?

I did state it more politely, not at all implying that you were incompetent.

What is not incompetent about complaining over a battery issue when a possible problem could be leaving pro-switcher invoked constantly?

More importantly, the number of apps currently backgrounded is not directly related to the battery drain of ProSwitcher. In fact, the number of apps backgrounded is quite closely related to the battery drain indirectly caused by Backgrounder; put another way, having the ability to background apps in the first place can lead to increased battery drain.

No one is contesting that backgrounding apps uses more battery power, this is obvious.

Again, "no," however, you are in the minority.

Again, you state that people having pro-switcher problems are in a minority, with no actual evidence, just an assumption due to you having little exposure to the possible complaints. Why say it if you don't know.

Again, "no," however, it "definately" has very little chance of degrading battery life by itself

Quoting me saying definitely when i was referring to your definitive post doesn't really make too much sense in your sentence. Something that is definitely very unlikely sounds rather silly don't you think.
It is also a 'very little' but real possibility that you didn't point out.

Its great you know so much about it, but its also a shame you had to post such a short, mis-informed comment, most of which you corrected taking some kind of jib at me.

Even though you deny it, I still say you refused to list those possible problems. Even though you confirmed some as possibilities, you clearly didn't write anything about them originally ... just your infallible statements of it working fine for you, and it should for all. You must see the difference between that and your follow up!
