Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is an app for OSX or IOS that can export whole shared albums from icloud?

I have about 12,000 odd photos in iCloud photos which are in shared albums, most of the photos are from my wife who added them to the albums in question. I'd like to be able to export all of the photos as albums so I can back them up outside of iCloud (regardless of whether I uploaded them or someone else did).

The standard answer when googling seems to be right click each picture, import it to local photo stream, add it to an album and then export. That is a royal pain in the a*** for 12,000 odd photos! So really need an automated tool where I just select the shared albums, it goes off and downloads/exports for me.

Anyone know if there is such a tool?

Cheers

If you want to archive your photos, you need to have the owner of the iCloud account do the export with the full res originals. Shared photos are reduced to a maximum of 2048 pixels on the long edge.

Your wife should "select all" in the album view (not shared album view), then send to your cloud storage of choice via the share sheet.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't aware of the size limitation. Thats a shame, I wonder why Apple enforce these size limits (other than to save storage costs). I'll get my wife to back hers up separately and look to use a third party photo sharing service which retains full resolution instead.

Thanks again
