Curious if anyone knows of a way to play an hourly news update… There is an app in the Mac App Store called Hourly News, but it has not been updated in 7 years. I downloaded it from the website with a 7 day trial and it crashed after opening and now won't work at all. Then I remembered about a script at Doug's Scripts that did just that, but it was written for PowerPC, and now is retired and won't work past 10.15.

I'm thinking there might be a way to do this once Shortcuts come to the Mac… Any ideas? Thanks

Do you mean you want to play the news automatically at the top of each hour?

A lot of radio stations probably already do this in their schedule. All you'd need to do is come up with a way to launch their audio stream automatically at the appropriate time. I bet you could work it out with Automator as @barbu suggests above.

I used to set Audio Hijack to launch the stream for my local public radio station and record the morning news early in the morning and then save it to iTunes. When I got up, I'd sync up my iPod real quick (this tells you how long ago this was lol) and take the morning news with me on the subway to work.
