After I updated my old iMac to Catalina a few days ago I started updating the old non-supported 32 bit-apps to their newer supported versions.
So I did the same with the XDCAM Transfer app from Sony.
It was required to do a restart after the installation of that app was finished.
I also needed to give the app permission in System Preferences before the restart, which I did.
Now after the restart the Mac keeps hanging at the boot screen: grey screen with the apple logo and the loading bar. The loading bar reaches until the end and stays there..
I already tried: - resetting P & R ram on boot
- booting in recovery mode and drive first aid
- booting in safe mode doesn't seem to work, it doesn't react on that
Now I was planning to just let it stay on the boot screen for the night and see if that changes anything, although not a lot of hope on that.
>> Is there anyone who was any tips for fixing this or has experienced the same?
- I don't know how reinstalling Catalina works in recovery mode? Does that keep all the data on the drive intact? I have some files that aren't in the latest Time Machine backup.
- Would recovering from latest Time Machine backup be the solution for this? But as said above with the loss of some files..
> General info about the Mac: It's an iMac 27" from 2012 with Nvidia Geforce GTX 680MX 2048 MB inside, 32GB ram.
Everything worked fine and really smooth with Catalina, until this app update of XDCAM transfer..

Maybe some additional info, although I guess it wouldn't make any difference with this problem: there was a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse attached and connected while doing the app update. (Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3)
I also have a wired keyboard and mouse attached, also with that one safe mode won't boot by keeping shift-key pressed on start up.
