Appigo's update to their software "ToDo" was just approved and released by Apple through the iTunes App Store. The biggest new feature, among several other enhancements, is the addition of push notification for tasks. You can set due times for tasks and it will remind you (through playing one of four built-in sounds that sound pretty good) of the task in advance (user changeable).

I haven't gotten my first push notification, but I'm pretty excited this finally came out. I've been waiting for this update for a while.

This update was a great way to start the day.

Todo is my absolutely most used App. It keeps me sane at work and I think it has seriously made me better at my job.

This update is fantastic. I altered one of my tasks to move up the time and the push notification worked like a charm.

Good stuff!

Steve

It's seriously ironic that I just bought and started to demo Put Things Off when this update, which I've been waiting and waiting for, released.

Very disappointing that badge notifications aren't an option, and you only get notified for tasks with a due time. 99% of the time my tasks have a due date only and no due time, so this push functionality is basically worthless for me.

It should have an option to notify with badges on the midnight of the day, week, month (whatever the user specifies) the task is due and/or overdue. That's the only way push notifications will be useful for an app like this for me.

I agree they should have an option to push notifications at noon (or any other defined time). Why they omitted this is beyond me, since this is the first thing I thought of (any many of you did too). But, there is an easy way around this - just set the due date time to noon. I know it's an extra step, but this fixes the problem. I'm equally miffed on why they didn't include pushed badges. Really, are they really that out of touch with their users. I just don't understand it. However, despite missing very fundamental push features, I guess this is a good step.

This is Great! What most Blackberry converts (I have to use both phones) miss is ToDo with ALARMS!!! We finally got note sync, and now a workable task alarm.
Now, if I can just get used to swipes, and touch screen versus my buttons that push in....:D

I've been using To Do for almost a year now and for the most part have been very pleased with it, but I must say it is unacceptable to not push badge notifications. They need to rectify this immediately.

Yeah, although having push notifications is superb for Todo as it no longer means having to keep toodledo on my phone to provide the task push...badge update seems a very odd omission. I remember reading that they werent able to do it on their website somewhere, but that might have been from before iPhone 3.0 was announced....

Hopefully it will get sorted anyway as then it will be perfect(ish...)!

I can't get this app to work as advertised. I registered the app and then it said it would send me an email to complete the registration. I never got the email so my notifications don't work. Can't figure out how to register again.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I thought this update would make this the killer todo app. Boy, was I horribly wrong. The developer is completely insane/stupid to leave badge notifications out.

I am left speechless.

I am left speechless.

Me too. It makes you wonder if he has even ever used his own app on an iPhone. Please leave feedback. The link is above.

Edit: I received my first push today. It was an OK reminder, but once I unlocked my iPhone, the push notification vanished (as they are meant to do). Unfortunately, out of sight, out of mind. We really need badges as they don't go away until the task is completed. They serve as a constant reminder.

Yes very dissapointed there were no badge updates in this release.

My need for a todo app is to remind me of how many tasks I have due for that particular day (this will include late tasks as well). It would be ideal if at 12am the list of due tasks get pushed to iphone and the badge updates. This is how RTM and toodledo work.

If you have set the badge to only display overdue tasks then each time it pushes an alert notification reminder to the phone the badge can and should be updated at the same time.

A lot of people are requesting for this so hopefully we see it this in the next release.

Right now though their notifications are right on time. I experience no delay whatsoever.

Include badge updates & possibly landscape mode and you have the best todo app in the appstore.

Hey can someone who owns the full version of this app let me know about the schedule SMS feature? Can this app be used to automatically send an SMS at a particular time without user intervention?

Thanks!

So I take it I can't actually use this application to send an SMS at a particular time? It will just remind me that I should send an SMS, then i'll need to go send it?

that correct?

That's correct. I'm pretty sure developers don't have permission to use that part of the API yet. Apple will gradually allow developers more access to the entire API from what I gather.

Can the reminders sync with outlook? If I set something on my computer at work, will it automatically buzz me later that night at the correct time without doing anything on the phone?

From the appigo website..

"Appigo, Inc. has joined the Microsoft Partner Program Empower For ISVs and will be delivering Appigo Sync for Windows to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook soon."

Need Help Setting Up Appigo Sync

Anyone know why I cannot get my MacBook to authorize my iPhone 3Gs? I've gone through all of the steps and when I enter the code on my phone nothing happens. It just keeps showing my iPhone "Marc's iPhone" in the Appigo Sync Preferences: Devices window with the status pending. Then it dissapears and comes back but the status still says pending and nothing happens on my phone. I attached an image describing what I'm talking about. This is as far as I've gotten. Many thanks to all!

Authorize iPhone

Ungratefulninja. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did click Authorize and that is all I see. No more progress than that. It does the same thing on both my PC and Macbook. I'm pretty good with this stuff and I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps.
