Apple is investigating whether or not faulty Seagate hard drives are to blame for data loss on some MacBooks.

[...]

You can figure out if your MacBook has one of the scarlet drives by checking the firmware revision number in System Profiler. If you scored a 7.01, Retrodata advises backing up your data and to consider replacing the drive.

Would some of these Hard Drives be found in SR MacBooks? Because the HD in mine failed the other day and caused me to get another computer.

I sure hope apple makes right decision regarding this. I will be checking my MB tomorrow.

Although my MB is out of warranty, I think apple should still take responsibility for faulty HDD (if it is), right?

Otherwise, this will just be my last apple product and I won't be happy with it.
