Apple and AT&T,

I have mentioned this in a couple of threads now. But this is my official request to offer those of us who want to buy the iPhone the opportunity to get in, buy the phone, activate it, and quickly get out.

We all know that there are a number of people who are in awe of the iPhone and just want to come look at it on launch day. There are others who just want to be at the "event" of the launch and could care less about what it is that actually is being launched.

But I would imagine that there are number of people that don't need to see the iPhone, touch the iPhone, smell the iPhone, etc. These people, myself included, just want to buy the iPhone.

If I may speak for this group, I would like to please ask that maybe we "BUYERS" can be accomodated. We just want to come in and pay our money and then leave with our new iPhone. We are not interested in crowding your stores or adding to the chaos. We just want this wonderful product and want to take it home. Can you do anything to help? Can there be a separate line that the only way to get in it is to present a form of payment?

:apple: We "BUYERS" don't want to waste your employee's time by asking a ton of stupid questions.

:apple: We "BUYERS" don't need to look at the demo before we decide to buy.

:apple: We "BUYERS" don't want to add to the crowds and chaos of the launch day.

:apple: We "BUYERS" just want to buy the phone and go home.

Can you help us out?

Thanks.

I think this process will be quick and painless for current AT&T customers, which have expired contracts, such as myself. Others will have to fill out some extra information. AT&T and Apple will try to sell as many as these things as possible. Also, expect a full staff that evening.

I understand that AT&T and Apple have a strong desire to sell as many phones as possible. That is why the "Express Line" concept is important. If you are going to buy an iPhone and wait in line all day to get a good chance at getting one, do you really want to be stuck behind someone who has a billion questions and then all kinds of weird contract issues?

The point of my thread is to just bring up the fact that there are a number of folks out there who just want to buy and leave. If people have questions, they should be attended to by the floor staff. But there should be a separate line for those of us who just want to pay and leave. There should only be two questions - 1. "Do you want the 4gb or the 8gb?" and 2. "Are you a new or current AT&T customer?". Then the order is fulfilled. That is all it should be.

either apple and att already have this planned out, or they dont

but this thread is not going to change what decision they have already made...

it is a good idea though.. i hope they do it

I understand this express checkout, but this iPhone launch will not be crazy. There are too many factors that some buyers don't like.

1) Must sign up for a 2 year contract, means a lot less ebaying
2) Users on different networks, maybe have to break contract & join AT&T
3) Users with current regular phones, will see an increase in there monthly bill, after purchasing a data plan

Everyone that wan'ts an iPhone will be able to get their hands on one.

I second this...a thousand times over. We are committed buyers and would like to just make our purchase a leave. Store employees will not need to (nor be able to) educate us before our purchase, therefor, let us drop an insane amount of cash very quickly and get out the door before we come to our senses. :apple:

I think you make a great point. In this age of the internet and online research, I rarely go into a store and find that the employee knows more about a given product than I do. If I want something, I do the research and then I go into to make my purchase.

For those of us who want this phone bad enough and have taken the time to do the research, talk to people on forums like this, camp out if need be, we should be rewarded by being expedited through the ordering process. Otherwise, you will get stuck behind some 55-year old woman trying to buy her husband a birthday present and asking where the buttons are on the phone when you need to make a phone call.

I agree when I go in buy any product and I mean any, I always research it. So, I always know more then an employee. They can only know so much, which is usually little or nothing. I guess whatever they can remember from a pamplet. lol

I think once AT&T announces the data plan, some type of number of will be released, on how many will ship for the June 29th launch. Days later each store should start getting numbers, and I'm sure those numbers will leak online. This product is just to big, for it not to.

That is what I am hoping for. I think once volumes at each store are publicized everyone's camping plans will solidify. If I think my AT&T store will only get 10 of each model then I will be there EARLY.

I agree, it would make things a lot better. I am going to get an iPhone, I am dead set on that. There is no alternative. If I don't get an iPhone, I leave and return when new shipments come in.

The only thing I need to think of is, plan wise. Pretty much, unlimited data and I need over 2000 minutes. Rather cut and dry.

The thing that will slow me down the most is transferring my number, since its a NJ number and I live in CA now. That might require them to call in.

We won't just be buying the phone, we'll be buying the AT&T service too. I bet there'll be a special iPhone counter for exactly this purpose. Hey Presto! Your express line.
