Apple and the future they bring "horrific"

What is the general thought about this comment? It really has made me think about my use of the iPhone and iPad (buying day one :D) I jailbreak for a reason, Apple has restrictions that are lame as all h*ll.

They don't allow FLASH because it would hurt sales in the app store... face it, thats the truth. They "dumb down" products so I'll buy the next gen (which I do, damn them!) I love apple but they may be the devil.

I love my iPhone and I'm sure I'll love my iPad, but if it's unjailbreakable then I don't see myself using it for long. Is Apple too controlling for the future?

I don't like it, but I understand why they do it. As long as the hardware is good and the device can be jailbroken, I don't really care ...
 
I agree with it. I don't like Apple at all. I use Linux and am used to doing anything I want. A jailbroken iPhone is pretty close to that. If it wasn't jailbreakable, it would just be a phone with thousands of time-wasting apps that I wouldn't use.
 
You won't be able to jailbreak it forever. As it stands now I need to connect the phone to a computer and run blackra1n every time I restart it and that is, in a word, bullsh*t. I don't care about the nuances of the problem, that it could work properly if some hacker wasn't a prick or whatever, the fact is that it works this way and there's no guarantee whatsoever that any future version of the system or the phone will be at all open to jailbreaking. What are you going to do, run an antique version of the system forever? Complain to Apple as if it's made any difference whatsoever in the past? By now it should be obvious to all that Apple will NEVER open up the iPhone. Ever. Quite the contrary, in fact. Personally, I think the days of practical jailbreaking are almost over, if not over already.

BUT

There are other phones, other systems, other manufacturers. Plenty of them, in fact. Android has had the same problem linux has had for the past 15 years in that it looks like it's held together by masking tape. HTC and Android have taken some pretty high profile beatings lately which means two things; That Android is starting to catch on and that HTC and Android have a lot of info to work with in order to improve the system. Maybe this all means that the upcoming AT&T android phones will be viable alternatives. And won't it be nice to be able to watch 90% of available streaming media again without having to use a garbage hack of app that crashes 20 seconds into every stream? No one seems to know anything about Windows Mobile 7 but the hardware that's starting to appear that's supposed to be able to run it is top notch.

I guess the bottom line is that Apple will continue to treat it's users like they're 6. I'd bet a paycheck on it. If you want more than that but you're unwilling to do something about it, you really have no one to blame but yourself.

Of course they will. How else are they going to make people think their software is superior? They make their stuff all snazzy with fancy graphics, nonsensical animations and novel input mechanisms, all with the purpose of distracting people's attention away from the limitations of their systems and, well, how ordinary their software actually is. Still get gray screens of death, still get unresponsive apps, both from Apple and from others, and still have startup problems.

It's all glitz and glamor. A lot of showmanship to make up for what is actually sub-par software that can't handle life outside of Apple's ecosystem.

Nothing might be unhackable, but if it gets to a certain point that it will be hard for the basic jailbreaker, they will stop using it.

I hope you're being sarcastic, referring to the iPhone as "Orwellian" ... There's nothing Orwellian about it.
 
Apple has nothing to do with Flash.

Adobe isn't to keen on developing Flash for the iPhone as it is a PITA as is to dev for Mac O/S

Perhaps in the future, but currently, Flash tends to crash Safari as is in addition to having issues with MSO for Mac

I don't mind Flash/Silverlight/Java Applets/RealPlayer/WindowMedia going away.

When everyone uses XHTML/CSS3/Javascript/HTML5, the world will be a better place.

Propreitary crap doesn't belong on the web.
