I was wondering if Apple would ever look at buying TIVO? Seems like it make total sense to buy this company that is struggling out there. If you took the standard tivo HD and apple tivo functions to it, Seems like this would make a great product. Buying TIVO you would get the patents TIVO has for time shifting the video stream. This would be huge. TIVO consistently wins every court case they go after. Echostart owes them for using their patents. But I imagine an "Apple TIVO": Nice aluminum construction two cable cards. HDMI port along with Display port. Integrated wifi N. Keep origianl Tivo remote along with premium aluminum remote to buy at apple store. This gives the home user one single box for their tivo. With itunes HD video content streaming from the Their Apple TIVO box no real need for DVD player. Then with Apple tv software play video files from your local mac onto your bigscreen. I think as a tivo user i am willing to loose Netflix with it along with amazon. I figure Youtube now streaming 1080p seems perfect place for it. With the Apple TIVO you could charge a monthly use for it along with the revenue from itunes from it sounds like a win situation for apple.
