And I'm guessing the included cable is for charging and for USB 2.0 transfer speeds.

They said in the video that iPhone Pro 15 can have faster transfer speeds with a USB 3.0 cable. But I doubt they are including a 3.0 cable in the box. So we'll see.

😋
Correct. Most iPhone users will not be hardwire transferring fat image files, so Apple should not include pricey USB 3 cables in the base cost of the phones.

Idk the most compelling thing for me is 6E(for no other reason than I have 2 nice shiny 6E AP’s) and the camera. $1000 off from Verizon gives me something to think about. However, it goes back all the way to the 11 Pro series. If I follow this logic, I could wait 12 months. Spend the 12 months of Apple Care, and then trade it in for the 16 flagship. Getting more out of my 13 pro max phone per dollar spent. Especially since that was $1000 off as well.

I’m really not sure what to do. The phone is definitely not screaming buy me. But there’s a real financial incentive.

I’m guessing next year it’s going to be A18, A18pro, A18max/A18 ultra.
The trade in program with att and Verizon is at its best if keeping for 3 years and trading in iPhone 12. Not if trading in ip14 or maybe even ip13. Ymmv.

My Apple care is expiring and I am on a 24 month payment cycle. I wish they kept that.

So the decision is renew apple care or buy the 15pm. Why would there deal be at its best for 3 years?.

The fact that Apple insists on marketing the photo assembly of the 15 Pro as having 7 different lenses really bugs me. Unless I am really not getting the pixel binning tricks they do, it does not have 7 lenses, neither does it have 7 focal lengths. It has 3 focal lengths with 7 different CROP FACTORS.
Seems like there may be ground for a lawsuit even...

I know USB-C is a more adopted standard, I just know it can be a flimsier solution in a mobile device compared to say a MacBook. I am not unplugging and plugging in my MacBook as much as I do my iPhone, and I have had experience with the USB-C port failing in more mobile devices like vapes after repeated charging use. Oh well, have to "get with the times" I guess.
Interesting. My iPhone 14 Pro has never been plugged in - - because A) Magsafe charging and B) Lightning is so effing slow. My iPhone 15 Pro will be plugged in because of the USB-C port that will allow fast data transfer of batches of large image files.

People say it every year…”not worth the upgrade” better for me. My order can go through quickly and I can get the color n specs I want. :)
This is not a super cycle, you’re going to be pretty safe with your preorder no matter what

With all the hype and rumors before the event, I was kind of worried that I picked the wrong gen to upgrade with 14 Pro, but lol.

15 Pro has the same exact display, same exact camera sensors, same exact battery life claims (wasn't this rumored to get a big upgrade?)

Only real differences are titanium vs. steel, USB-C vs. Lightning (which I only use to charge anyway, so whatever) and 10% faster chip...

I thought 3 nm would bring a substantial uplift, but Apple goes with yet another year of +10% CPU performance...

This truly was a letdown.

I want specifics on the action button - for a long time I’ve wanted a headphone-cable-style audio control next to the volume controls - this would make that possible: long press for silence, per the design, the single press for pause/play, double-tap to skip forward (30 seconds or one track, as appropriate for the app:currently playing), and triple-tap to skip back (15 second or one track) - it'd be so handy for the times I have the phone in my hand (say wandering around a store), and want to control the sound *right now*. Yes, I could reach up to the AirPods, but if I have the phone in one hand and, say, a shopping basket in the other hand, it’d be much more convenient.

Truly a surprise on the camera. The world was adamant that a Sony periscope assembly would be used. Instead it looks like Apple used a prism based design and did some really interesting stuff with it.

What was expected:

Apples-Plan-for-a-Periscope-Lens-Comes-Up-Against-a-Samsung-Patent-1536x806.jpg

Very very interesting…

The prism 5X lens is a HUGE (stop-gap) disappointment. This is not an optical zoom; it's a fixed focal length lens (with some non-negligable light loss in all likelihood). This means taking photos between 1X and 4.9X will be mostly crops of the main lens and sensor. If they had used the Sony system, you would have a proper optical zoom lens at focal lengths in the 2x-5x range. There's a good change the regular Pro will have better image quality in the 3x-4.9x zoom range.

All I can figure is a) Sony was too expensive for Apple's ginourmous margins, b) Sony would not sell them the tech, or c) they couldn't fit a periscope system in the body.

EDIT: A couple folks pointed out that Samsung's 10X Zoom is also a fixed focal length too. So...the two phones are similar (except iPhone is 5x vs Samsung 10x).

I'm sorry - what's changed on the pro? It's titanium? 3nm and it doesn't even have better battery life?
It’s got a new process, completely overhauled GPU, a prism based telephoto lens, UWB 2, etc.

But hey, the glib hot takes of disappointment are pouring in so I won’t waste my time any further.

This is me, I’ve got a normal iPhone 12. It looks like I can get a totally free iPhone 15 if I trade it in, or get the Pro for $200 extra of my own cash. I’m not sure it’s worth it, I’ve never had a Pro iPhone. I do like the extra camera though, and higher refresh rate screen. The titanium looks nice, but I don’t really care either way what it’s made out of since I usually slap a case on it right away.

They’re…not the same camera sensors or ISP…

It was used to go to the moon because it's as strong as steel but much lighter, not because of its hardness. It's actually a relatively soft metal, and definitely less hard than stainless steel so it can be scratched easier.
The material used is an alloy like stainless steel is an alloy, not soft like pure Titanium or pure Iron would be.
