That’s what I saw, could have sworn I heard $1000 in the video, and when putting in my trade in it shows $800 in bill credits. Yet in the little window it says up to $1000 and shows AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

I’m curious what the Verizon site is going to say.
T-Mobile has really been adding coverage in my area, and their 5G is faster than Verizon.....it may be time to give them a go.......

I didn't manage to watch the presentation and just looked at their website, so I am a bit confused regarding the difference between Pro and Pro Max.

5x (prisma/periscope) vs 3x fixed

AND

larger sensor on the Max?

Or did I misunderstand it?

It is not a periscope. It is a fixed focal-length 5x folded prism lens. So the years of hype about finally having an optical zoom (like many Android phones...) were false. It seems the 1X-4.9X zoom range will still mostly be crops of the main lens/sensor rather than a pure optical zoom from what should have been a periscope system.

I'll go out on a limb and say they couldn't get a periscope system working for this year and simply stuffed a prism lens in the same space. Next year we'll see a dramatic new invention - the periscope lens!

My Apple care is expiring and I am on a 24 month payment cycle. I wish they kept that.

So the decision is renew apple care or buy the 15pm. Why would there deal be at its best for 3 years?.
Sorry, saying need to keep for 3 years to get full benefit. Which sucks. Really don’t realize extra trade in value until after year 2 of keeping device. Att and Verizon both 36 months now. Verizon little better giving some instant credit.

I’ve been looking at them. Not that I need to upgrade every year. But if they are going to pull me forward every year or two it’s definitely intriguing.

I’m going to hold off until an actual analysis is done. Methinks that is a progressive prism that has different effects based on where the light is passed through volumetrically in the prism. Apple (from patent filings) has been experimenting with meta material lenses for years now. I think that prism is going to be pretty interesting to examine once it’s actually disassembled.

If so, same effect as moving lenses, but far more durable and better OIS.

That’s just my hunch though.

Thank you so much. I see. What about the sensor size, any difference? Their presentation seems ... oily?

I’m still not understanding. If you’re talking cost of ownership I understand. But as of this month, I am completely paid up and my bill credits stop. My iPhone 13pm are officially 1000 dollars less this month.

I personally love the pro versions. But I’ve never not had them. I get them for screen size, battery life, and camera. Also, because they seem to put all their stuff in the PM and I want all the tech.
Is the Pro’s battery life much better than the normal one in the same size?

Once again a big thanks to the elephant in the room - the EU - for forcing Apple to finally get with the rest of the world and USB-C.

Side note, ofc Apple was going to frame it as "something they've always done/were going to do anyway" and they did not disappoint😂
We all knew Apple would move phones to USB-C, duh. Macs have had it since ~2011. It has always just been a question of exactly when.

Apple was right to resist the EU trying to tell tech companies what ports to use, which is absurd. If government committees had always been able to determine required ports we would all still be on USB-A at best.

All I can figure is a) Sony was too expensive for Apple's ginourmous margins, b) Sony would not sell them the tech, or c) they couldn't fit a periscope system in the body.
The Sony Experia 1 IV phone that their continuous optical zoom debuted in launched with an MSRP of $1599. Yes it can be had for significant discounts now, but even with the discounts the base models start at $1300 USD (as does the successor V model). Right now Sony's solution is the only one on the market but Apple is no doubt working with suppliers on their own implementation that can be done at a more reasonable price point.

Did they mention anything specifically about battery life increasing or Cinematic mode finally updating to 4K60? Is it 4K30 currently and when it first launched on the 13 it was 1080p30?

I know it was when compared to other that had the regular one. But I didn’t really do an analysis beyond my phone had about 20% more charge for about the same hours off charger. But I haven’t personally experienced the two so I couldn’t give you a true real example beyond what apple states, with my
Usage.

I will say, I use my 13pm every day, ALOT. And it lasts the entire day, with room to spare 99.9% of the time. It’s gotten less so now that the battery is two years old. But when I first got it, I was blown away with the battery life. Still am really.

I forgot to charge it a couple days ago. I went another half a day without charging it. And that’s with 89% battery health.

My mom never turns her screen off, and plays a slot game. Her phone lasts like at least 6-8 hours or so.

Is the A17 a bit underwhelming? They didn’t mention 3nm and the CPU and GPU gains seem modest. Does it bode poorly for the M3 chip?

RT in phones isn't going to be relevant for another 5-10 years.
We disagree. IMO iPhone gaming is already very relevant and hardware RT will accelerate that market as soon as 2024.

But the biggest deal about the hardware RT announcement is that it means hardware RT will be on at least the higher end M3 Macs, which is huge.

I don't get the people complaining about USB-C. I use it everyday day for years on my tablets phone, laptops, desktops and never had any issues. Also tia Apples fault if they use a slower version of it. That's just them being cheap. I'm sure I'd they really cared they could have figured a way for it to use Thunderbolt.

It was used to go to the moon because it's as strong as steel but much lighter, not because of its hardness. It's actually a relatively soft metal, and definitely less hard than stainless steel so it can be scratched easier.
but its better for the environment...

The processor and the hype around is just ridiculous and stupid. The iPhone processor has not been a bottleneck for years and yet it's used to market the hell out of the iPhone. It would be more meaningful if ANY iPhone user could even see their real time usage. Before that, it's just hot air for 99% of iPhone users.

And we never went to the Moon. 🌝 🌙
Hmmmmmm-any questions?
The United States would go on to complete six crewed missions to the moon that landed a total of 12 astronauts (all men) from 1969 to 1972 in a series of Apollo missions numbering up to Apollo 17. The only mission that failed to reach the moon’s surface was Apollo 13, which suffered a critical power and oxygen failure mid-flight, and was forced to make a heroic emergency reentry.

Oh oh - and I thought I will not upgrade this year … at least I think I can resist with new Apple Watch Ultra (at least if the trade-in prices are not tempting :))
