The new Apple app iPhoto is SO spectacular over the stock "Photos" that I think it has to have it's own thread. It's an app, yes, and costs $4.99 - BUT it's actually an extension of the iOS5.1.

I'm totally blown away at the user interface, the graphics AND THE INFORMATION attached to each photo. It leaves the stock Photos in the dust! It puts iDevice photos available at a professional level ... all the things that have been missing are HERE!

Each photo has a date/time stamp and can have GPS location if you enable. Each photo can be NAMED!! And I've only played with it for 15 minutes... what a BONUS!!! :D :D :D

Must try this.

I'm a professional. Sub-folders in Photos app is not possible. Is it possible in iPhotos?

Does it integrate with Aperture at all? Or do you have to be using iPhoto on your Mac?

Great app.

But, they need to change the icon. The orientation of the 'photo' in the icon make the whole icon seem miss aligned with the rest on the home page.

Or is it just me?

Explain further? Are you talking about the stock Photos app or the iPhoto app? If the latter, looks OK to me...???

EDIT: Never mind - I see what you're talking about - the APP icon. Yeah, I agree. Looks off kilter. I originally thought you meant the photo album icons within the app. They are pretty cool!

I, unfortunately, don't have a Mac. I use a PC with Creative Suite 3. There's no connection between iPhoto and CS3 other than manually importing. I also have the new PS Express on both iPhone4 and iPad2, but haven't given it a try yet.

And to answer another poster - it doesn't appear to allow sub-folders, but honestly, I haven't gotten that far into it. If it DOES - then a double WOW rating.

I cannot figure out how to delete photos from the app iPhoto, even though I've found some directions in PC Magazine. What they say doesn't work!

So, I brought back the stock Photos icon and approached my photos from there and it's easy to work with. Discovered (I think) something new in Photos ... if you open up a photo while in the main folder, all you have to do is pinch with thumb and forefinger on the photo and it returns to the page. Not a biggie, but pretty cool!
