Apple are supposed to be opening a new store in the Oracle shopping centre in Reading. No opening dates/precise location info has yet been posted. As an infrequent visitor to Reading I asked a friend of mine, who lives near the town centre, to ask at the Oracle Information point to see if they new anything.

Her question was "Do you know when and where the new Apple store is opening in the Oracle?"

The guide's response was apparently "There are no existing, or plans for, a fruit and veg store in the Oracle".

Being an individual who does not suffer fools gladly she did steel herself for one further attempt and clarify what she meant by the Apple store. To which the ultimate answer from the guide was "No". So like Leopard, Mac Pros, Wireless Keyboards etc will have to keep patiently waiting.

So it would appear that Apple have some way to go in convincing people they make computers (sorry, electronic devices) and are not something that falls off trees.

There is one shop unit available on the first floor close to Currys Digital with the words "No sneaking a look, we're not quite ready yet" on the store front....
